5 Year Wedding Anniversary in Las Vegas

This year we celebrated our 5 Year Wedding Anniversary in style and this is how it started….

We were cuddling watching TV one night about a week before our 5 year wedding anniversary when he got up and came right back with the envelope…. “To my Wife”

I thought, “how sweet”  but he’s so early… did he get the day wrong?

“Open it” he says and so I do.

the inside was filled, top to bottom, side to side with the nicest words in the world.  I cried.  It also had a little note in it that said to “pack a bag because we are headed somewhere very hot next weekend.  The initials are PH.  It took me a few minutes to put it all together…. Planet Hollywood Resort in Las Vegas.  OMG excited doesn’t even begin to explain it!

Friday couldn’t come soon enough.  Our flight was to leave at 10am friday morning and we completely overlooked traffic and were less than 1 minute away from missing the flight.  They actually didn’t know if we were going to make it on.  Thankfully…. we did!  And we will not push it that late ever again!!  I watched one plane take off for Vegas that I was supposed to be on once before and I’ll be damned if it was to happen again.

10am and we are on the plane…. drinks on the plane… Rum Rum Rum…. YUM YUM YUM

We were happy being in the first row…. we were the last to get on and the first to get off!  PERFECT.  The flight attendants thought we were on our honeymoon because we looked so in love.  So funny and so cute!

We’d been to Vegas before in October but never in the summer.  We were slightly nervous about how hot it was really going to be….  105, 106, 108, and 107 were the temps for the next 4 days!!  I couldn’t even begin to imagine what it was about to feel like….  LIKE A BLOODY HAIR DRYER BLOWING ON YOU FROM EVERY ANGLE.  HOT AS HELL.  But the best part…. no humidity…. which means… you guessed it… no hair frizz.  I was certainly pleased!  The heat was absolutely amazing and we will definitely be going back in the summer months again.  It did not bother us at all!  In fact we loved it.  Even at night it was hotter than any day in the Caribbean….. ahhh I’m actually cold sitting here back home…

We get to our room at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino…. and get upgraded twice to a Fountain View room and the view was spectacular!  Although the windows needed to be cleaned in a bad way…. we mentioned it upon checkout and were given a substantial refund!  Again… pleased!

To Be Continued…. tomorrow….

Anderson Silva on Chael Sonnen… “I’m going to break his face”

Anderson Silva on Chael Sonnen!

Finally someone gives Chael a taste of his smart mouth.  Love it!

“First of all, Chael is a criminal,” Silva (31-4 MMA, 14-0 UFC) said through translator and manager Ed Soares. “He’s been convicted of crimes. He doesn’t deserve to be inside the octagon. And when the time comes and the time is right, I’m going to break his face and break every one of his teeth in his mouth.”

“People who live in the past, and things that are in the past, are in museums,” Silva said about his past performance against Sonnen, which took place at UFC 117 and ended in a come-from-behind, fifth-round submission victory for the champ. “Right now, I’m focused on what’s going to happen in the next few weeks, and right now, playtime is over.

“I’m going to beat Chael like he’s never been beaten before. The joke is over. There’s no more talking. I know he’s on the line listening, and the game is over. I’m going to beat his ass out of the UFC. He’s never going to want to fight again after I’m done with him.”

I borrowed this from Detroit Free Press.

He always makes me smile

Last night hubby and I went downtown.  It’s a bit of a trek for us as we DO NOT drink and drive… therefore we always have to leave a few hours earlier than the event time.  We walk, then bus, then skytrain, then walk or cab some more.  It’s fun though.  Well it’s always fun when were together.  Road Soda’s are a must to fight the long trip.  Start the night out right.  We were on our way to a buddy’s birthday dinner.  The venue was The Italian Kitchen on 1037 Alberni Street in Vancouver.  I had a delicious pasta, Linguini Carbonara and Hubby had a spicy, super tasty Chicken Parmesan.  It was a very nice place and everyones food seemed to be of great quality.  I would hope so as the prices were not that low.

When dinner was done and we said our goodbyes, we started walking… it was a wonderful warm evening, I was in a summer dress, and Vancouver has seen alot of rain lately…. so we walked.  and walked and walked.  We stopped on the gallery steps and people watched…. We enjoyed a bunch of hip hoppers practicing in the below ground Robson arena and found ourselves on Granville, walking the opposite way of the skytrain.  $4 highballs out on the patio of Olympia Bar & Grill…. I think we shall.  Oh and you’ve run out of crappy whiskey so you will substitue with Crown…. sounds great to me!  We talked and drinked and talked and drinked more and decided since it was close to midnight we should head back… althought neither of us wanted to….    It was such a nice and pleasant evening and I just love my man.

Surprise Trip to Seattle, WA with my #1

Just a few weekends ago Hubby whisked me away for a surprise trip down to Seattle, WA.  I was floored!  I ♥ going to Seattle.  We both do. We just always seem to have such a good time there.  Plus there is something about staying away from home in a hotel.  It’s just fun.  We have gone quite a few times now and always stay at our favorite hotel in Beltown or close too.  It’s quite close to Pike Place Market!  Not only do we stay in the same hotel but we always manage to get the same room on the 18th floor.  From the king size bed you can fall asleep and wake up with a full unobstructed view of the Seattle Space Needle.  Truly a pretty site.  With water visible on the left side as well as the right.

This hotel is close to many many restaurants and bars.  So it’s perfect us.  This time we checked out Icon Grill for dinner. it’s on Fifth and Victoria and features Executive Chef, Nick Musser. Loved it. I enjoyed Cupcake Prosecco wine with my dinner and it was lovely.  I don’t think they sell this type of Cupcake wine in BC… Boo…  next time I head to Bellingham for gas I’m going to try and bring a bottle home.   It’s sparkling and pink and tastes divine!  After that we headed back to our room to finish off a bottle of Rum before heading out for some dancing.  We may be getting older but we still like to get our groove on together!  I was in a new purchase… a bright orange dress!  The great thing about this dress is that it matched my new hand job/nailpolish that GalPal gave me just the day before.  See Sound Lounge is where we ended up… It’s too close to pass up, so we just walked on over and danced and had some really potent highballs before making our way back.

That’s when it happened…. he got the hiccups again.  Every time we come her he starts hiccuping and they don’t go away.. some times for days.  I can’t believe it.  I immediately start thinking about how we’re going to be up all night and how we were going to feel like hell in the morning and stressing out… he hiccupped so much and was shaking the bed each time that my stomach began to reject all my lovely wine and delicious yummy rum… ugh… I pulled through while he slept through… hiccupping in his sleep.  Thankfully I did fall asleep a while later and when we woke up they were gone.  Yeesh…..

Breakfast at IHOP, ( really must find a great breakfast place in Seattle… suggestions please)  I wanted to go Sephora and there is no parking around there except underground and the truck has been jacked so we don’t fit.  He pulled up to the curb and I had 5 minutes to shop.  5 minutes is all I need if it’s all the time I’ve got.  I made out nicely and off we went.    Finished our shopping, picked up some groceries and of course filled the truck and all 6 jerry cans of gas!  Picked up a nice bottle of Bacardi 8 Year Rum at the Duty Free and home we were.

What a great trip!  Thanks Hubs!

CARIBBEAN DAYS FESTIVAL 2012

YES!  Caribbean Days Festival is soon approaching.

Caribbean Days is an event put on by the Trinidad & Tobago Cultural Society of BC every July.  It’s held in North Vancouver, BC at Waterfront Park.  It’s a weekend of culture, colour, costume and fun!

My girlfriend knows that I’m a huge fan of Jamaican music, reggae, and all Caribbean music actually.  I just ♥ it.  I put on my smallest shorts and crank it up when I’m cleaning house!  Dance and sing and love, oh and clean…. all at the same time.  Of course hubby doesn’t mind it.  He does think I’m crazy sometimes but aren’t we all just a little bit?  She told me about this annual festival last year and unfortunately I was unable to go.  She made sure to text me and leave me voicemails from the party tho….. ♥ her!

This year the party is on Saturday, July 28th and Sunday, July 29th.  There is also a Caribbean Days Boat Cruise on Sunday July 22nd on board the M.V. Britannia, boarding at the foot of Denman.  Tickets are $30 and I believe they can be purchased here.

Basically what this means is, I am pumped up to get my booty bouncin to some great tunes, be part of that awesome chill vibe, eat incredible food and meet alot of people.  Most of all, I’ll be rockin it with my GalPal…  and Hubby if he’s down.  I’m definitely wanting to hit up that boat cruise!  I ♥ boat cruises!!

Maybe I’ll see you there?  The website for all the facts and details can be found here.
