209 Views Yesterday! That’s a Record Breaker For Me!

20140201-105813.jpg

The most views in one day, on my blog, was 171.

Yesterday, with your help, I beat it around 4pm. With plenty of time to spare!

The number of views continued to grow to 209 by midnight.

My new number to beat in one day is 209. I may need a small army for that. Haha.

THANK YOU!

COOKING WITH HAY on Facebook

Yes, It’s finally ready. I have been working on a Facebook page for all my recipes. It’s easier for most to just use FB as a goto so I decided that would be my next step.
Please find me as COOKING WITH HAY on Facebook and click LIKE to get updates of what goes on in my kitchen.

I am currently trying new foods and spices. Learning about other cultures and I really enjoy new methods of madness and techniques. haha

The love and support thus far has been so cool! Thank you! I hope you can help take me higher! I follow a great blog that has been an inspiration to me and I hope, when I’m finally upstairs in a real kitchen with lots of natural light, that I can one day have the blog and page I am after.

Marianne’s Homemade Caesar Salad Dressing

While Hubby and I were back home for the holidays, we got to experience my Mom’s Caesar Salad. It’s just so perfectly good and I ate a lot of it.
I made my Mozzarella Stuffed Meatballs yesterday and completely forgot to make a Caesar Salad…. The balls were just that good I guess.
Tonight we do salad! I add fresh sliced mushrooms to mine to give it a bit more substance… Sometimes I add cucumbers too.
20131231-221315.jpg
Marianne’s Homemade Caesar Salad Dressing
1 egg
Dash or 2 of Worcester Sauce
1/2 Tbsp lemon juice
2 cloves of garlic, grated or more
2 Tsp anchovies paste or more
Dash of sugar
Salt & Pepper
1/2 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Blend and chill. I actually put it all in a jar and shook the shit out of it. Then passed the jar to Hubby and he shook the shit out of it.

Rub the bowl with garlic.
Rip up some fresh romaine leaves
Add sliced fresh mushrooms
Add your own mixed bread croutons
Add fresh grated parmesan cheese.
Taste it and adjust to your liking
Toss with the dressing when it’s time to serve. It will go slightly soggy if you don’t wait.

I hope you enjoy this as much as we do! PS, it’s not too strong in flavor, it’s just right, so not to worry you won’t offend your guests with bad breath. Ok well maybe a little. It’s totally worth it! Maybe set up a side dish of Brush Strips! LOL

Chipotle Chicken Salad Bowls

20131013-153319.jpg

I made Shredded Mesquite Chicken Nachos last night.
With black beans, pickled jalapeños, monterey jack cheese, cheddar and mozzarella, sprinkled with green onions, guacamole and sour cream. Mmmmmm. I had some chicken left over so for lunch today, I whipped us up some Chipotle Chicken Salad Bowls! The mesquite in the chicken was masked by the chipotle so no worries there. They were delicious and nothing was wasted. Especially those nachos last night. The boys ate them up rather fast.

Happy International Coffee Day

20130929-091029.jpg

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia…
International Coffee Day (also known as Coffee Day or National Coffee Day) is an annual event observed on September 29 in a handful of countries for the celebration and enjoyment of the popular beverage coffee. This day is also used to promote fair trade coffee and to raise awareness for the plight of the coffee growers. On this day, many businesses around the world offer free or discounted cups of coffee. Some businesses share coupons and special deals with their loyal followers via social networking. Some greeting card companies sell National Coffee Day greeting cards, as well as free e-cards to help celebrate the occasion.

I certainly don’t get my coffee for free at any time, however, with the wind and rain swirling outside my door… I am completely content on my sofa, with my book and a good cup of Canterbury Coffee. Thank you very much!

Then it’s back to work and renos 🙂

House Reno Teaser

20130926-121847.jpg

I love technology! With the help of my iPad and an app I was able to work on renos while listening and watching a webinar for work. (Ok maybe I will need to do a bit of review) but it’s just after noon and so much has been accomplished!!! Now if it were me I’d take the rest of the day off, pat on the back, go for a run, have a hot bath and read… but no… Hubby sees all opportunities to do more work. Got to go. He’s beckoning from above like as if the heavens are calling. HA! Ya right, he’s asking for another coffee. Got to go! Bye for now.

Here’s a little House Reno Teaser! No it is not a drain. LOL

Premade Homemade Garlic Balls

For convenience in my cooking adventures, I do this…
Start with a whole crap load of garlic.
Peel them and put them all into a food processor
20130922-223049.jpg
Pulse until you get a fine minced consistency
20130922-223055.jpg
Using you hands, gently create little balls, the size of the portions you would prefer.
Make some bigger and some smaller. See, convenient!!!
Put them on a cookie sheet and freeze them in the freezer.
20130922-223059.jpg
Once frozen, put them in a labeled ziplock freezer bag and keep them in the freezer.
20130922-223104.jpg
Thaw one in the microwave in a small dish for about 5-7 seconds, any more and they will get bitter and burn.
